Dominique Strauss-Kahn interviewed on France Inter yesterday morning. He
mentioned something I heard last week, but forgot to write about. Local councils
in Paris are supposed to ensure a certain proportion of social housing (habitation
à loyer modéré or HLM ) is built. Many councils, however,
prefer to pay the fines imposed for not doing so, rather than allowing undesirables
into their neighbourhoods.
